Real Lives

About Me

My specialist areas are music, business, technology, media, TV, health, food and real lives, although I frequently accept commissions in subject areas that are new to me, priding myself on my ability to deliver exemplary copy, to deadline and to brief.

Since 2005 I have worked for Future Publishing as consultant editor on The Musician, the quarterly journal for the Musicians’ Union. The role involves project managing the entire production process for the client, from flatplanning and commissioning through to sign-off.

From 2001 to the present, I have written regularly for the television pages for The Guardian

I also work as a reporter and sub-editor for the Daily News at Midem, the world’s largest music industry trade fair, held in Cannes, and for IFA International, the daily publication for the IFA consumer electronics trade fair, held in Berlin. Working as part of small editorial teams to tight daily deadlines, I interview key industry players, reporting on breaking industry stories and developing trends.

From Synths To Cycling

From 2003 to 2009, I was managing editor on Korg Magazine, the bi-annual contract publication produced by Future Plus for global musical instrument manufacturer, Korg. I have also worked as a freelance writer, sub-editor and production editor on a broad range of newsstand and contract publications, such as Waterstone’s Books Quarterly, HMV Choice, What Mountain Bike?, Pro Cycling, Guitarist and BBC Homes & Antiques. I have worked as a web writer for online Future Publishing sites such as techradar.com and musicradar.com
